Homework: 8/02/2016

Homework information is below - but first read these notes which may help you in tomorrow's lesson.

Extra research tomorrow:

Remember tomorrow you will be feeding back to others about your opinion on whether time travel is possible. If you have time try and research a little bit more tonight to see whether you will agree with your initial answer.

If you would like to revisit any of the clips we watched in class please follow these links:

Start-stop – let them read and play clips in between.

Time travel video – simple idea
Time travel video – more complex
What could the success criteria be for the activity? Children are to write their own SHOULD and COULD
Hadron collider (how does it work):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTHzB4h0po4
Hadron Collider – how the particles travel
Black hole – Stephen Hawking theories

These will be of interest too: from a debating website - people have shared their views agreeing that time travel is possible - or that it will not be possible (in red) - what do you think?:

Homework:

BBC 500 Word competition:

For homework this week you need to work on your BBC 500 word story. Remember it has to be linked in some way to the future as the story will also be the entry for this year's creative story writing part of our school Eisteddfod competition - as we discussed that doesn't mean it has to be a science fiction story - but use the theme vocabulary box below to help you think of possible links.

You need to type your story using the word element of Office 365 of HWB so it can be shared with me. If you can't access a computer or a tablet then you may handwrite your first draft in your learning log and type it up in school.

Remember what we discussed in class - settings, characters, plot. If you still haven't looked on the BBC500 website I suggest you have a read / listen to some of last year's finalists - lots of great stories so you can see the standard of writing that gets into the final.

Extra story - Some children have expressed an interest in generating an idea of their own and writing another story. This is fine as long as you priorotise your Eisteddfod entry first for editing in school next week. You can write your additional story on any theme in your own spare time and I will allow you to submit it.

Spellings: Children should have taken home their new spelling lists. We will be testing ourselves on week 2 next week so the children need to practice list 2 from their list.
