Homework
Just a reminder that I gave a homework task to the children on Monday. They will use their old topic books to act as their Learning Logs (to complete maths homework tasks). I have instructed the children that they can cover the books any way they wish. This week's activity is linked to place value looking at multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000. The learning logs need to be returned by Monday 21st September.
Big Pit
We had a fantastic day out at Big Pit along with pupils from Year 5. The tour guides were fantastic and the trip will provide a great stimulus for us to continue work towards our topic, Y Ty Glo. As usual, the children were very well behaved and were a credit to the school amongst other schools and members of the public. Thank you for allowing the children to dress up in the spirit of a mining community of days gone by and Mrs Harries and I would like to extend a big thank you to the adult volunteers who joined us today.
Here are a few snaps from the trip:
Waiting our turn before descending 90 metres below ground in the mine shaft.
Being fitted with our helmets and torchers before our decent.
Looking at a water powered winding wheel:
The children weren't phased about sitting on an explosives dram (thankfully it was just for show!!)
A giant statue of a miner.
Fabulous views across the valley!
