Shwmae everyone,
Some updates for next week
Maths: We will be continuing some work on time, 5 minute intervals and comparing analogue and digital time.
The clock we have been using to practice in class is on Top Marks (same website as Hit The Button) It works equally well on a tablet or a laptop. Here is the link: Topmarks - Teaching Clock
SAFE - will we be practising skills linked to FACE - key areas. Things to practice at home on SAFE 7: Q 2 adding up coins, 5 recognising time, 6 recognising angles.
On SAFE 8 the key areas are Q 4 recognising properties of 3D shapes and Qs 7 and 8 knowing the value of halves as mixed numbers and improper fractions eg 4 1/2 = 9 / 2
SAFE 9: Some children may progress on to SAFE 9 this term. It is a lot more challenging and will include Qs on fractions of whole amounts - 1/2s, 1/5s and 1/10s - help children to understand by explaining that the denominator is what you will be sharing the number by. They will also need to progress on to 1/4s as a mixed number.
* Don't forget Miss Wide is running a maths club on Tuesday's after school which will be the perfect chance to practice new skills with the help of Year 6 pupils.
Literacy: We will be planning and writing an information leaflet linked to a British coin.
Mon: Spelling check up
Tues: return Learning Logs by today. Netball club after school
Wed: New Learning Log task to go home. Cardiff City class sessions and after school club (bring outdoor PE kit (including a long sleeved top and trainers|).
FRI (Mrs Boat in class today): Swimming kits needed today. SAFE maths challenge today
Class letter: Finally here is a class letter giving an overview of the areas we will be covering this term. I have added it as a link so you can view it online or download it if you wish:
