Week 1 – Draw your Island .Draw a draft map of your island using A4 paper or your Learning Log. What can you remember from what you planned in class?
· First of all think of your ideas and what things you might find on your island, and write them down/draw them on the paper.
· Then draw your map neatly onto the A3 paper with grid lines provided.
· Show all places of interest. Make your map as colourful as you can and remember to try and include a key using the space provided next to the grid. You can include such things as forests and rivers, paths and roads, mountains and swamps etc.
· Remember that a map only shows permanent features (things that don’t move) not people, animals and vehicles.
· Your island can be in a real or an imaginary sea.
· It needs a name and the name could also be a theme for the rest of the island. There were some great ideas discussed, for example if I made an island I might call it Sport Island and all of the features could be sports or things to do with sports, like Sprinting Stream, Swimmers Swamp, Cricket Cave.
