Homework: 18/10/2017

Thank you for comprehension activity last week last week, a great variety of designs for the shields too, well done!

This week will start the new homework cycle and will be a numeracy task. It needs to be returned on Tuesday 24th Ocbober.

Please read below these images for instrutions:

Task: Look at the conversion sheets I’ve added above (with monkeys on)
1.      Copy the conversions into you Learning Log to use for reference. If you want you can add some pictures of your own. If you want to make your own tables on the computer and print them that is fine too.
2.       Complete the conversion question sheet you have been given and stick in your log.
3.       I would like you to carry out a measuring investigation in your home. You will need to source a ruler and a tape measure. I want you to measure things in and around your home.
You must choose at least 5 large objects eg your bed, a radiator (measure to the nearest cm) 5 smaller objects, eg your toothbrush (measure to the nearest mm) and choose 5 areas eg the length of your living room, height of your house, length of your garden (nearest m).
Optional: Photos – if you have fun measuring something or measure something unusual, please take a photo and share it with me via HWB or print it off and stick it with your work saying what you were measuring.

Extension:
A) If you are able to convert each of your measurements into 2 or 3 converted measures. Draw a table and record the results. For eg – if my bed was 194cm long I could convert that to 1.94m, 1940mm or 1m94cm or even 0.00194km
B) Use google maps to find your house and choose 5 locations around Britain and write the distance to the nearest km
