Wythnos 3: 8/05/2017

Good evening all,

I'd like to congratulate all the pupils who took part in today's WNO family concert. It was a brilliant experience and you represented the school, along with pupils from Year 5 outstandingly. The musicians were incredible and it was a pleasure to be able to accompany them as a choir.

Thank you for giving up your Sunday afternoon to attend and a big thank you to all of the family and friends who came to support us I hope you have made some great memories as I'm sure those of you who get the chance to perform alongside a full orchestra again will be in the minority. However, I hope it's given some of you inspiration to pursue developing an area of music for your own enjoyment as you get older.

Next week's key points:

We have two more of the WAG tests to complete. The children did a marvellous job completing the reading test on Friday, which is a paper that pupils in Year 7 will also have sat across Wales. We have the first of the two maths tests tomorrow (reasoning test) and then we will have the second test (procedural) on Wednesday.

As I mentioned on parents evening the tests are not anything to worry about as they will not have a bearing on the end of Key Stage 2 results. Even so, it is important that the children try to do their best and learn the skill of exam techniques to prepare them for the really important exams in a few years time. They don't need to worry about how they have done and we won't receive any information about the standardised scores until later on in the term which we will send out when we receive it.

Presentations: We are starting the class presentations this week. Try to make sure you have practised and prepared your talk especially if you are presenting this week (double check the blog from 2 weeks ago to check you are meeting the criteria to present well) - The children have been given their slot and their is a timetable up in our area but I have added one below as a reminder of the dates (bottom of this blog). If we don't get to complete all the presentations on a particular day, they will roll over into the following day.

Mon: Reasoning test, class presentations day 1

Tues: class presentations day 2

Wed: Procedural test. class presentations day 3

Thurs: class presentations day 4

Fri: class presentations day 5 - PE kit required today please.

*Reminder that school will be closed on Monday 15th May for INSET
