Wythnos 2: 02/05/2017

Shwmae all,

I hope you have enjoyed the bank holiday. Below is some information about the upcoming week but first of all here is an update about the Family concert taking place next Sunday.

WNO Family Concert.

The WNO Family Concert is less than a week away.  Last weeks rehearsal was great. The children sang to Year 3 as an audience and are sounding incredible. I am excited to see them on stage next Sunday performing alongside children from Jenner Park (Barry), Dinas Powys and Mount Stuart (Cardiff) and accompanied by the full orchestra!  Here is some last minute information about the day and how it will run. I will also send this information home in a letter along with a photo consent from the WNO.

I am aware that a few children are unable to attend due to prior commitments and family trips away that weekend and of course that is fine. If you are available on Sunday and have yet to decide whether to join in I would be grateful for the support in representing the school. If you cannot make it then that is fine.

Date of Concert:  Sunday 7th May 2017

Place:  St David's Hall Cardiff

Meet: 11.15am outside St David's Hall. We will need to meet Imogen (WNO) and register before finding our allocated seats where we can drop off our bags, etc. Children will be left in charge of Mrs Rees and I (parents are not able to stay for rehearsal, sorry.) But you are welcome back from 1pm to join in with a range of activities based on the theme of the show (animals) that will take place in the foyer. Try to arrive between 1pm and 2pm to join in and be ready to take your seats between 2.30 - 2.45pm

Rehearsal:  12pm - first time we will be singing altogether with the other schools/choirs involved and rehearsing with the live musicians.

Lunch:  1.00pm - 2.15pm - Children must bring a packed lunch with them.

Concert 1st half:  3.00pm - 3.45pm

Interval:  3.45pm - 4.05pm

Concert 2nd half:  4.15pm - 5.00pm

Pick Up:  5.15pm outside back stage door (Between Costa and Edinburgh Woolen Mill) ALL parents/guardians must collect the children from here, no exceptions.

A letter will be sent home with the children tomorrow highlighting all this information and will also contain a permission slip from WNO for photographs and videos to be taken of your child.  This will need to be returned to school by Thursday 4th May.

Activities for the week:

I will be giving the children the timetable ready for the class presentations which will begin on May 8th.

* WAG exams - It is our first exam on Friday 5th May - we have the literacy comprehension test in the morning. Please note that we also have the mathematical reasoning test on Monday 8th May (some children have told me they are away on the weekend so please ensure you are in school on Monday for the reasoning test). Our final maths test will be on Wednesday 10th May.

Tues - Final rehearsal before the WNO concert - we will be joined by the conductor, James Southall!

Wed - no PE today - it will be on Friday this week
