I would just like to let parents know how pleased I was with Year 6's efforts in this year's Eisteddfod competition.
Creative writing: Our neutral judge found it very difficult to judge the Bard winner this year due to the high standard of poetry. Congratulation to George who was lucky enough to pick up the prestigious award this year. Mr Davies will be adding the three winning poems to the main blog.
In addition to this the standard of story writing was incredible as we entered the work the children had done for the BBC 500 word competition. Mrs Black and Mrs Taylor had a difficult job judging a winner due to the quality of writing and variety of ideas in the stories.
Art: The standard was incredibly high as the children had to portray a portrait of a Welsh icon and explain why they chose that individual as an inspiration. Again very difficult for the judges to decide upon overall winners. We will definitely be making a display out of the work that was produced.
Live performances: It was great to see so many children taking part in the Welsh recitation and singing competition on the day. Well done to all those who competed and represented their houses.
Supporting others: The House Captains, Vice Captains and rest of Year 6 did a wonderful job supporting their younger peers and managing their houses as they watched the competitions. There was great support and encouragement during the whole of the day.

Here are some notices/ reminders about the upcoming week:
Homework - a reminder that the homework deadline will be Tuesday 7th March as homework was sent home on the Thursday of last week.
Literacy: Following on from our discussions about the possibility of time travel the children will begin to learn about the skill of debating and the importance of persuasive language involved in arguing cases for and against a topic.
Mathematics: We will be completing our work on averages and continue work linked to data handling by looking at Constructing and interpreting line and conversion graphs in which intermediate values have meaning.
Specific dates:
Monday: Big Spelling - we will be working in pairs and checking words from week 3 of our lists.
Tuesday: Return homework / learning logs. Welsh session with Mrs Bowhay
Wednesday: PE kit required for today. New homework task to be set to go home.
Friday: Mr Wagner session. Big maths CLIC self assessment, PE kit needed today.
