BBC 500 word competition and Eisteddfod

Hi everyone,

As I said last week there is no set homework task for your half term however the deadline for the BBC500 word competition is Thursday 23rd February.

I have to submit the stories on your behalf. Lots have you have already shared your stories after working on them att home last week. However as we did some editing in school - if you have made changes to your story since you sent me the copy last week make sure you share / send the copy that you wish to send. Also if you have done an additional story ontop of the Eisteddfod themed story you may forward that to me to send to, but I must recieve them by Thursday morning at the latest.

Things to check - word count - its on the bottom of the screen on the online version of HWB - ensure you are below 500 words but as close as you can get to the limit.

Check the arrangement of the story (how you space the lines) look at the winning entries last year they are often seperated a lot and some paragraphs are really short. It helps the reader if you leave appropriate spaces inbetween the lines / paragraphs.

Check you have used a range of punctuation and that your basic punctuation is accurate - full stops and capital letters. Have you used pausing effectively?

I look forward to recieving the final copies of children I haven't recieved yet.

Good luck to you all!

Eisteddfod
We will be writing up our Bard poetry entries on the Monday after half term. If you want to do additional work towards your bard poetry entry at home to bring in after half term that is fine. Remember it is Welsh themed but try and include an aspect of thinking about the future - interpreted in your own way.

There is also the home art entries to do if you wish (details are on the main blog)

And if you are representing your house in the Year 6 song (Calon Lan) perhaps spend some time learning that to help your progress before Wednesday's Eisteddfod. There is a version on the 'Can Sing' website and also there is a good page on BBC where Wynne Evans teaches you how to learn Calon Lan - type into search learn how to sing Calon Lan with Wynee Evans and it will come up.

Have a great half term, I will blog before our return on Monday 27th February,

Mr Ball
