Good evening all,
We have quickly arrived at the final week before half term and we have a busy week yet again. Please take a look at the articles below about last Friday's enterprise event and our trip to Cog Moors if you haven't seen them as yet.
As I said to the children - there was no set literacy activity for homework last week due to the amount of time and effort that the pupils have been dedicating towards their Enterprise projects.
This week's homework will be linked to preparation for the Eisteddfod - as we will only have a week back after half term before we host our school Eisteddfod for 2016, but we will begin to look at the elements we need to cover during this week.
I would also like us to enter the BBC 500 word short story competition this year but have agreed with the rest of the KS2 staff that the stories will also be their entries for this years creative writing competition in the Eisteddfod - I will discuss details with the children this week.
As the pupils are in Year 6 they will have the opportunity to compete for the prestigious Bard award by writing poetry on a specified theme (which we will discuss this week)
As there will be lots for the children to think about in preparation for the Eisteddfod I will not set a specific homework task - but allow the children to focus on the areas they feel most important in preparation for the Eisteddfod
Some of you may be aware that Y Pant has arranged a visit for the class on Friday 12th February. As with the visit to Bryn Cylennog, the whole class is invited and we recommend everybody attends as a learning experience - Y Pant would like you to arrange for the children to be transported to their site for an 8.45am start but if this is not possible for you please let us know and we will arrange transport for them. Y Pant will arrange for the children to be transported back to school at around 11 am. I will send home a letter tomorrow if you would be kind enough to return the consent as soon as possible so that we can see what your intentions are with regard to transport.
Due to the busy week there will be no set spelling words to learn at home but if time allows I may set a random test to check up on the words we have looked at during this term.
