Wythnos 6 - 05/10/2015

Literacy and Language (L&L)
We have almost completed the fictional aspect of our work and will plan to write and edit our drafts during the week ready for our final piece of writing that will bring an end to this aspect of the unit before we begin the non-fictional aspect.

Maths
Our main focus this week will be looking at the processes of doubling and halving and how these skills can aid our speed of calculation. We will also be looking at how to create and use tree diagrams during problem solving.
Thank you for all those who have managed to log in to our trial IXL maths account (almost the whole class) I will discuss progress with the children and further targets for next week.

Topic
We are going to have a look at the history of mining in Wales linked to our trip at Big Pit and our class role play from the Trehafod Census. Some children have already brought in some artifacts and stories about how mining has been linked to their own family history. If anybody else has something they would like to share about a mining link in their family please can they bring in any information or artifacts to share with the class.
