Code Breakers

This week we will be discovering the world of the Enigma Code and how it was used by the British to decipher the German signals traffic during World War 2.  Your mission, if you choose to accept it, Year 6, is to become code breakers.  You are asked to decipher a given code and answer a range of questions using this code.  I do hope you are up for the challenge soldiers.  I look forward to seeing the answers next week.  Good luck, and remember...

Write out each letter of the alphabet - Give each letter a money value starting with:
A=1p B=2p C=3p … Z=26p

Use this alphabet to answer the following questions (Vowels are worth double money)
  • What is the value of your full name (including middle name)?
  • What is the most expensive day of the week?
  • What is the value of the last three months of the year?
  • What is the value of  your (i) favourite book (ii) favourite colour (iii) favourite TV programme and (iv) favourite animal?
  • What is the value of Penygawsi Primary School?
  • What is the cheapest class in school?
Challenge - Create your own ‘value’ code and questions for your partner to solve.
