The children should have brought home their book bags and homework books tonight.
Book bags: We will begin guided reading cycle again next week. The children will remain on the same day to change their books bags and read in class: Monday - castles, Tuesday - Excalibur, Wednesday - Round tables, Thursday - knights and Friday - King Arthur.
During the next two weeks we will rename the groups linked to our new topic and I will let the children know if their reading day has changed. Please can children remember to return their book bag on their allocated day.
Homework: The children will have brought home an activity that involves reading a fictional diary written by a cow. There are a few comprehension questions to complete but I would also like the children to write a diary entry about their weekend - using the lines in their book.
They can either - write an entry about their day on Saturday and on Sunday (as two separate days) or they can write a diary entry for the whole weekend (what they did from Friday night through to Sunday).
If they could return their Learning Logs by Tuesday next week please.
Spellings: I completed spelling assessments this week to measure the children's progress and some children have remained on the list that they had just progressed onto before Christmas - they are to continue following that list. Others have been given a new set of words - could they please keep these safe - I haven't stuck them in the book. If you would like to stick them in the back for practicing at home please do, or if you would like to keep the list somewhere else at home for practicing that is fine.
We will begin next Monday with their first check up on their words.
* Can I give a reminder that children need to know what they are having for lunch when they arrive at school. We have had some confusion last term where children have thought they are packed lunch but were a dinner and haven't ordered. The kitchen make dinners for the day based on the specific orders for the children.
