Christmas performances:
The children have been told what they need to wear for performances next week. The majority need a hat and scarf, some need pyjamas and dressing gowns and some need to wear white. If you are unsure please check with me before Friday. Extra tickets are available from tomorrow.
Homework
Class group: The class group is now live and I have added a file linked to this weeks homework and I have put our music on their for children to practice their dance at home if they wish.
There are two homework tasks to complete on HWB this week to support our Roman presentation work in class.
1) group leaders need to create a word document and share it with the rest of their group - a list of user names are saved in the class group. I will go over this process again in class if anyone is unsure how to do it.
2) Create a Sway presentation linked to your group to practice using Sway ready for when you work on it as a group. (We haven't gone over this in class yet - I will do before the weekend) but there are some good tutorial videos on the App when you open it so if you want to have a play around before we go through it that is fine.
To access the Sway app - you need to log into HWB - click Office365 and select the Sway app. The best devices for using Sway will be an iPad / tablet or laptop/PC/MacBook. Sway can be downloaded as an app on a phone but this will mean you are not using it through HWB to save your work and you would have to send the presentation to yourself to open it in HWB.
What is Sway?
Sway, which is part of Microsoft Office and designed for creating presentations, is in many ways an alternative to PowerPoint. But what is the difference and what can it do?
The purpose of Sway is to convey concepts quickly, easily and clearly. The Sway interface is based around a story line, into which users add a series of cards. These cards are then filled with content, with different cards available for different types of content, and which can be grouped together into sections. Content intended to be the user's narrative can be easily added, removed, edited or reordered. This flexibility should allow stories created in Sway to be much more free-flowing that presentations created in PowerPoint.
As we are working on creating a group presentation I think it will be a really good tool for us to use to help construct our presentations collaboratively whilst allowing everyone to have their own individual areas. As it is part of our HWB applications you can easily share a Sway you have created
In class I will talk a bit more about Sway and its functions. I will also explain how to share a Sway with another HWB user.
Trouble getting onto HWB
I have troubleshooted everyone who had problems logging on but if anyone still has a problem - please let me know before the weekend so that we can go through it in class.
