This will be our final blog for the year. The children should have taken their end of year reports home with them on Friday, everyone can be proud of the progress they have made during their journey through Penygawsi and I know they all have the skills to tackle Year 7 with confidence.
Once again, a massive well done to the children for the effort with the summer production, Porridge. They did a brilliant job and I am grateful that you allowed the children to commit to both the evening performances, I hope you enjoyed the show.
Main notices for the week:
Monday (tomorrow)
Paintballing trip: Children are to wear sporty clothes and trainers (which may get muddy). The forecast is due to improve tomorrow but it may be a good idea to bring a spare pair of shoes and socks in a carrier bag in case the woods are muddy. The children will be provided with overalls and kit but I would recommend wearing long bottoms and long sleeves under the overalls. They can always take a layer off if it is warm.
We are aiming to depart around 9.30 and will have a safety briefing and play three games before lunch. Some have paid for a burger and the others will be having a packed lunch. The children may bring some snacks and drinks to have in between games. We will be departing at 2.30pm to return to school.
Money: Some children have asked about buying extra paintballs. They will be provided with enough paintballs for each of the six games but they will be able to purchase extra paintballs if they wish. There are drinks and chocolate bars for sale as well - If you are bringing extra money I would say £10 would be sufficient.
Kye's last day: Kye will be missing the leaver's assembly as he is going on holiday. The children have asked if Kye can sign their shirt as he won't be in at the end of the week. Children can bring in the white shirt / polo shirt that they will want to get signed on Friday for Kye to sign before he leaves.
Leaver's Hoodies: We are planning to distribute the hoodies tomorrow - ready for the leaver's assembly
Tuesday: Leaver's assembly - the children have all prepared their leaver's speeches. I would like them to practice their speech ready for Tuesday. They may print it off in school if they haven't already done so. The children have all been given a small piece of narration or need to write a small part for the assembly (please can they read through these - they don't need to be learned off by heart) but they should aim to know their speech.
Children are to wear their leaver's hoodies. You should have received a text message to confirm that the assembly is going to begin at 9am. It is likely to begin nearer 9.05am after clearing breakfast club but arrive for a 9am start. Parents and grand parents are welcome.
Wednesday: Leaver's assembly - we will repeat the assembly for the rest of the staff and school. PE kit needed as we will do some sporting activities during the afternoon.
Thursday: Water fight. We will have a traditional Year 6 water fight. Children need to bring in a change of clothes (that will get wet) and a towel and can bring in a water pistol if they have one.
Friday: Shirt signing - bring in a polo shirt / shirt to be signed by friends if they wish.
Good bye photographs. We will meet on the
* Leavers ball photos. Oliver and George's mum is editing the photos from the golf club and when she shares them with me I will share them with the children.
I would like to thank you all for your support working with me this year to prepare the children for their transition to Y Pant and Bryn Cylennog. We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday morning to celebrate the children's time at Penygawsi.
Many thanks,
Mr Ball
