Wythnos 1: 22/02/2016

Good evening all,

This week we will be preparing for this year Eisteddfod which will be taking place in school on March 1st 2016.

There will be lots of things to focus upon during the week. One of the big events will be to write towards the prestigious Bard award. The theme of this year's national Eisteddfod is Belonging, therefore, this will be the theme for the poems that we will write towards the Bard competition. It will also be the theme for the art competition. Both will be discussed in school tomorrow - but if you wish to spend extra time at home working towards further ideas for your art or your poem that will be fine.

House song is Calon Lan: We will go over the song in school before you decide if you are going to represent your house in the singing competition - I will upload some resources onto the Onedrive on HWB and share them with you

Welsh recitation: Wyt ti Eisiau? - will go over in school but will also be available on Onedrive if they want to practice at home.

It would be good if we had a big interest from Y6 children competing in this year's events as it is their final Eisteddfod competition in Penygawsi.

Saesneg: Our main literacy focuses of the week will be to finalise our BBC 500 word / creative writing stories for the Eisteddfod as well as writing our entries for this year's Bard competition. There will be new spellings to learn for a check up on Friday (words below)

Mathemateg: In maths we will complete our work on open-ended problem-solving and also look at drawing and measuring angles and hopefully progress onto looking at the area and volume of shapes. We will have our first CLIC challenge of the half term.
