A brief update of the week ahead:
We will be aiming to host our initial Enterprise sales event on Friday 5th February - as I said in Friday's message we will confirm this tomorrow.
Literacy: We will begin to look at examples of BBC 500 word past winners and use these stories as inspiration to begin planning our own stories to write for the competition. We have been discussing different story genres already and will use our current story to help us think about what we should write about.
Maths: We will continue to look at interpreting data, particularly in pie charts and also look at using co-ordinates in all four quadrants and be able to read scales on maps, plans and graphs.
Well done to those who have managed to log into their HWB accounts and request to join the class group - anyone who has had any difficulties logging on; I will try and resolve them with you tomorrow.
Monday: Indoor PE kit required. Decision to finalise a date for the opening of our Enterprise sales event.

Tuesday: Class trip to Cog Moors, Welsh Water education centre. Packed lunch is needed for today's trip
Wednesday: New literacy homework task to be set.
Thursday: Mrs Boat teaching in the morning. This would normally be our week for double PE but we will need the time to finalise different aspects of our projects. We should be able to have double PE next week if we get the project completed. After
Friday: Return maths homework. Provisional date for Enterprise Troopers sales Event - 2.30pm until 4.30pm in the school hall.

This week we will be focussing on silent letters:
Letters that cannot be heard when we say a word are usually called ‘silent’ letters.
Here are some reasons why a word might contain silent letters.
· Hundreds of years ago, all the letters in a word were likely to be pronounced, for
example: knight, gnaw.
· A word might have been developed from words in other languages. For example, the
word castle can be linked to the Latin word castellum, the old French word castel, the
Spanish word castillo and the Italian castello.
