We have another busy week ahead!
Literacy trip to Bryn Celynnog - tomorrow (18.01.2015)
The literacy trip that was postponed before Christmas will be taking place tomorrow. No consent was needed as it is was an 'opt out' letter. It is just the morning hey are being collected at 9.15am and will be returned to school for lunchtime
There are only a small minority of children in the class who sent the 'opt-out' consents before Christmas. I realise some parents may see the visit as unnecessary if their child is attending Y Pant or any other school.
As I said before Christmas I would encourage all the children to go as well as them taking part in educational activities with secondary school teachers it will give them an initial taste for working in a high school environment. For non Bryn Celynnog pupils provides the opportunity for them to see where their friends will be working next year. From the input we have had from the staff involved with transition at Bryn Celynnog I am sure it will be a worthwhile experience for all of the children.
From chatting to some parents, I know some thought that it was only for the prospective Bryn Celynnog pupils - but this is not the case. If you were one of the children who opted out change your mind and decide that your child would like to join the majority of the class just let me know tomorrow morning, otherwise they can stay and work in school until the other get back.
Rest of the week
L&L - we will be finishing our autobiographies and carrying out peer and self assessments on our finished autobiographies. We are also going to start fine tuning our comprehension skills on a weekly basis, to help with assessing reading skills and it will help towards preparation for the summer tests. We will begin looking at a new fictional text with a main focus on informal and formal speech and writing along with use of passive voice.
Maths - We are continuing to look at data analysis and different ways of recording and representing data graphically
Enterprise project - After conducting market research amongst other pupils we will be having discussions as groups as to how we are progressing in terms of developing our business and whether we have made the right decisions about productivity in terms of generating sales.
Monday: Bryn Celynnog trip in the morning - children to return to school for lunch. Indoor PE kit needed for the afternoon (with trainers). New spellings below ready to begin learning.
Wednesday: return learning logs with maths activities on averages. New literacy task to be set.
Thursday: Mrs Boat teaching in the morning. Indoor PE kit required this week.
Friday: Spell check - see word list below and Big maths CLIC tests / badger maths problem solving activities.
