Hook, Line and Sinker!

The pupils have had a super afternoon kick starting our topic Time Traveller.  An envelope addressed to The Pupils of 2014 arrived on Mrs Udy's desk after lunch today.  We gathered years 5 and 6 together to read what was inside.  To our surprise it was a letter from none other than Dr Who!

He has asked for our help and the children are more than welcome to do so.  He has informed us that he has travelled to many different eras and distant galaxies but it has come to his attention that he has never visited 1940's.  He knows nothing about World War 2 and would love it if the pupils of Penygawsi could help fill the gaps in his knowledge.  He has asked the pupils to research life as a child during war time Britain in the 1940's.  The children have until Christmas to report back to The Dr using their chosen media.

Before they could start their research, a timeline challenge was set.  The pupils had to help Mrs Udy and myself rearrange a mixed up time line.  The pupils learnt what BC, CE and AD stand for and were able to put a range of dates and events into chronological order.  Both Mrs Udy and myself were impressed with their knowledge of important dates in British history.
