Next week's work will evolve activities from our task:

To design and make a working mine shaft that will lift a small cube of fake coal.

Literacy: Writing, Reading and Performing Instructions
Number: Converting Lengths, Measuring and Angle
IT: Construction App and Excel Spreadsheets for budgeting the material order

We will be starting to THINK about and DISCUSS our plans at the end of this week.  Could you please carry out talking homework with your child asking the following questions:
What do you know about Mine shafts?
What materials are they made of?
How does a mine shaft work?
Can you name the mine shafts seen on our trip to Rhondda Heritage?
What can you tell me about them?
What shapes will you use in your design?
What materials will you use?

We will be constructing the mine shafts next Friday (18th October) using wood, saws, glue guns, axles and card.

If there are any parents out there who would enjoy helping us in this task then please let me know.
