The miners got their first months wages today. Lord Merthyr set up his paying station and waited patiently for his workers to arrive. Many left with glum faces but some with smiles as they realised they had more money others. Lord Merthyr was strict with his boys and made sure they showed him respect!
The families sat down together and discussed how they were going to spend their hard earned cash. They had to pay for rent and essentials. It was interesting to hear what they classed as essentials!!! The children have realised how hard it is to manage a household. The mothers did a wonderful job organising their brood and sorting the groceries and rent.
Additionally, it is clear we have some entrepreneurs on our hands as they bargained with each other over eggs and cakes that the mothers of the houses have been busy baking. It was great to see everyone working well together and showing excellent mathematical skills.
