Listening to parents: LEARNING LOG TASKS

Thank you all very much for your positive and constructive feedback following our parents' evenings. One common theme raised in the feedback was our homework: that doing two pieces of homework in one week followed by one week of nothing was difficult to manage.

As a result, we have decided to change our system by sending one Learning Log task home each fortnight which gives your child the time to explore the open ended question in any way they wish. This may be maths, language or topic based work. This is designed to help pupils develop their independence and organisational skills when learning at home. Their teacher will direct them to relevant websites to support their learning.

In between these two weeks, their teacher will also send a worksheet type piece of work home to be completed by the same date based on the language or maths they are working on in class.

Your child will be notified of the Learning Log tasks in class but you may want to check the blog regularly yourselves to check the tasks set each fortnight.

For Years 5 and 6, the class teacher will set the fortnightly Learning Log task (open ended question) and their maths and language set teacher will send the worksheet type activity home. Year 6 may receive more homework some weeks as they are preparing for the heavy homework load from Y Pant.

Thank you all again for your support. If you have any questions just let us know. Diolch, The Key Stage Two Team .
